If your GoPrinter™ isn’t printing when prompted, and you’re not hearing the familiar startup beep, the problem may not be with the cartridge or battery, but with the encoder. The encoder is a vital component that detects motion and sends a signal to initiate printing. If this signal is missing, the printer won’t start.
Diagnosing the Issue:
You can disable the encoder from the printer settings to test if the cartridge and machine are functioning. If printing resumes in manual mode (without encoder input), then the encoder is likely at fault.
Replacing the Encoder:
The video walks through a complete encoder replacement process, including:
- Disconnecting the battery for safety
- Removing the roller and internal brackets
- Accessing and replacing the encoder unit
- Reassembling the machine with correct sensor alignment
- Ensuring magnet orientation is correct for encoder response
The process also covers careful handling of sensor cables and reattaching internal buttons, levers, and covers. Once installed, a quick test confirms successful operation printing resumes with proper encoder feedback.
